Good for you.. Now’s about the time that you give yourself a huge pat on the back… You made it through all the body changes, doctors’ appointments, outside noise, opinions, setup and now’s the time for the big game… At this point you’ve been hit with tons of talk about birth plans, epidurals, breathing, breastfeeding, lack of sleep, you name it, someone’s talked to you about it.. The fact of the matter is, every one’s labor and delivery are completely different, and what you may have planned out, may very well not happen and that’s ok. There are things that are out of your control that just happen and all you can do is roll with it.. One of the nurses that helped us was a complete b. Not like the kind of b where you’re taken aback and cry about it, but the kind where you can’t really do anything about it but laugh. My mom and sister were in disbelief that this woman assists with baby delivery, but I had to laugh about it.. Allow me to elaborate… So you hear stories all the time about how a person can make or break an experience, right? People go online all the time and the number one thing they write negative reviews about are the people with whom they interact… Well, here’s the thing, I had two ways to take this lady on…. I can be upset and let this woman be a part of my delivery story and ruin my experience, or I could focus on me, the baby and the start of our family through this crazy miracle we were about to go through together. I chose option b. Now listen, this isn’t me being all Suzy Sunshine. If you know me, I can bring doom and gloom on occasion like the best of them, but my point here is, at such a pivotal moment in your life, allow your self the grace to experience it on your terms: with love, happiness, a splash of fear, and bearing down for one heck of a roller coaster ride.. I promise, the highs outweigh the lows.. You got this
