So it’s GO time…

We’re fully dilated and being rolled down the hall to the delivery side.

It’s kind of eerie.  The suite was cold. Still kind of dark. Shifts were changing. Note: my rockstar doctor stayed past his shift to deliver our sweet girl.  Also note, June 17th of that year was Father’s Day.  He was going to make my honey a father on Father’s Day. Pure bliss.

So we get settled into the room and it’s a total clinical lab setting.  Gone are the comforts of the fluffy blankets, dim lighting, little couch and tv.  It’s work time.  The lighted, heated bassinet are waiting in the corner for little girl.  It’s a little intimidating to see the tools, towels, paper gowns etc.  Note, the nurse I described before that was a total b was done her shift.  Woohoo! To my pleasant surprise, the nicest nurse of all time comes in.  Oddly, she reminded me of my aunt/godmother, yet her first name was that of my other aunt/my sister’s godmother.  What are the freakin chances?  So of course, I was comforted in that.

My husband, mom and sister were all in there with me.  My dad, and mother and father-in-law in the waiting room.  Dr. Bowers leads the show with his calm voice, and I have no idea how he did it, but we were all laughing and engaging in conversation between pushes.  It was truly bizarre.  It wasn’t this scream-fest with moans, groans, yells and grunts.  It was a beautiful time with some of the most special people in the world to me welcoming my newest, most favorite thing in the whole wide world.   We did it you guys! We freakin did it and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience surrounded by love and support.
