So let me start by saying that I was the first-time mom who swore that she would never let kids take over her house. We wouldn’t have a play room in the middle of our family room. There wouldn’t be toys everywhere. I certainly wasn’t going to move my stuff because I had kids. They would learn to not touch mommy’s thing…. Note: I am smiling like an idiot as I type. In my defense, some of my hard lines stayed. I still have my grown up stuff on my coffee tables, things at floor level, my decorative pillows perfectly chopped in the corners of my couches. I will also say that I do have toys out in the room, but the compromise was that they’re in a colored coordinated cutie basket… Anyway, the point of this rant are foam square tiles for the floor. I have to tell you, you should get them. Not only do they protect your carpet from spit up and drooling, but they also protect your child from bumping too hard on the floor as they learn to root, scoot and boogie, but they also don’t have to face plant in your carpet and have a mouthful of fibers and whatever else is deep in there. It’s a designated place to play that’s super easy to wipe down and maintain. It’s protected and safe, and as they get older, it’s a fun gigunda puzzle to figure out and play together. You need them.
