So in case you don’t know this yet, baby nails are like daggers. It’s like for 10months they’ve been growing this perfect french manicure that I’ve been trying to perfect my entire adult life. That being said, every flippin baby kit has nail clippers in there that are literal torture devices. It’s like from the Saw movies for babies. I say that in one day when my oldest was five months old, my mother-in-law was watching her while I went to work. As always, she asks if there is anything she can do. I say, would you mind trimming her nails today? To which she replies, not at all…. Duh dun dun….. I get a phone call at work and Grandma is hysterical. Like beyond upset… Naturally, I think the baby’s not breathing, but through her tears she manages to tell me that she cut her finger with the clippers. That the baby moved and she accidentally clipped her fingertip. She was screaming crying and blood was everywhere, and she’s so sorry etc….. So, I am absolutely certain that this way way more traumatic for Grandma than it was for my daughter. Even now, she still references that day and how horrible it was…. Granted, I was completely fine given it didn’t happen to me/on my watch, but the trauma of this incident had us seek out other options. Just get the Baby Scissors. They’re adorable little baby scissors that you can press against their finger tips to get under the nail to trim it. In fact, I still use it on my kids that are five and two. There’s even a cute little lion on the side of it and my girls hold the cap/lid while I use it.. Easy peasy… Update: Grandma has since recovered 😊
